Ernie R. Walker graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law and was admitted to the CT bar in 1990. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Central Connecticut State University in 1986. He is currently a member of the Connecticut bar and the United States District Court of Connecticut.

Attorney Walker held the position of a Connecticut Workers Compensation Commissioner for over 19 years, and recently retired from his distinguished career as a Commissioner in March of 2018. As a Commissioner, Attorney Walker presided over cases at the informal level, Preformal level and Formal (trial) level. He served honorably under the Connecticut administrations of Governors Malloy, Rell and Rowland. He has presided over thousands of Workers Compensation cases during his tenure. In addition, he has written hundreds of formal (trial) decisions on issues that include workplace injuries and accidents, repetitive trauma claims, occupational disease claims (including asbestosis), Second Injury Fund (SIF) - no insurance claims, insurance coverage issues, permanent total claims, Osterlund disability claims, opioid-use claims, and numerous complex legal claims and matters.

Prior to his position as a Workers Compensation Commissioner, he worked as an Assistant Attorney General at the Office of The Connecticut Attorney General. Attorney Walker had the privilege to serve in that capacity for almost nine years under now Senator Richard Blumenthal. Attorney Walker was acutely involved in representing numerous state agencies, including the SIF, in the defense of workers compensation claims being made against said agencies. He has extensive knowledge of State of Connecticut employee compensation claims and their defenses.

Attorney Walker has argued cases before the Compensation Review Board (CRB), the Connecticut State Appellate Court and the Connecticut State Supreme Court. Attorney Walker worked in private practice before his career change to the office of the Attorney General and has a wide breadth of experience and knowledge in all aspects of the law.

Attorney Walker also served as a Mediator for the Connecticut Workers Compensation Commission since the onset of its Mediation program in July of 2015. As a Commissioner, Attorney Walker has mediated over a hundred workers compensation claims to resolution and was sought out to perform the same by the Workers Compensation Bar, before the onset of the official Workers Compensation Mediation program. Attorney Walker has earned the respect and trust of the Workers Compensation Bar, due to his knowledge, expertise, and the passion with which he practices workers compensation law. He is known as someone who will take on a case and not “let go” until the job is done.

Attorney Walker is a past board member of Catholic Family Services and Community Partners in Action, a past volunteer for Literacy for America, and has served as mentor to many inner city children in Connecticut.

Attorney Walker has served as a presenter and speaker on Workers Compensation law for over 20 years.

I am honored and humbled to continue to serve in my capacity of a practicing attorney.
